Getting Artsy After 50 explores how to create a life that is more joyful and fulfilling through creativity, connection and collaboration.
It offers digital storytelling and participatory video workshops to inspire connection, understanding, and action.
The blog uses a narrative storytelling approach to explore identity, personal transformation, and the therapeutic benefits of incorporating creativity and social connection into our lives.
The site also shines a spotlight on a range of inspirational artists and writers, as well as practical courses and workshops, and local artsy events, shops and markets.
Digital Storytelling and Participatory Video
I am excited to announce that I will be launching a range of digital storytelling and participatory video workshops in 2025 in collaboration with 333 Collective.
Storytelling is fundamental to human connection, helping us heal, reflect, and share knowledge.
Digital storytelling combines traditional narrative elements with multimedia such as text, images, audio, and video to create meaningful stories about lived experiences. Often used in health, social justice, education, and environmental fields, digital storytelling empowers individuals through self-expression, engages audiences emotionally, and amplifies underrepresented voices. It also supports branding and marketing by crafting impactful narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
Similarly, participatory video is a collaborative filmmaking process where groups or communities create videos to share stories and ideas, address issues, and advocate for change.
Both approaches emphasise the transformative power of storytelling to inspire connection, understanding, and action.
